Welcome to GCA Umpires Academy

Scope

Any one interested in Cricket umpiring can register with GCA and join the classes / complete the level one course to be eligible to officiate in school & U-16 matches.

Course Duration - 20 hours.
  • Basics of Cricket umpiring.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Overall view of few laws of cricket. Their applications GCA playing conditions.
  • On field movements.
  • Written and practical examination.

Scope

Umpires who have successfully completed level one course are eligible. Level two umpires will be eligible to officiate in league matches of club division and below.

Course Duration - 40 hours.
  • Basics of Cricket umpiring.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Skills of cricket umpiring.
  • Laws of Cricket– interpretations and their applications. GCA playing conditions.
  • On field movements.
  • Player umpire conflict handling.
  • Written and practical examination.

ROAD MAP OF UMPIRING CARREER

Welcome to GCA Umpires Academy

Scope

Umpires who have successfully completed level two course and have officiated in at least 10 matches or more at level two can join this course. Level three umpires will be eligible to officiate all types of matches.

Course Duration - 60 hours.
  • Advanced skills of Cricket umpiring.
  • Physical fitness.
  • Laws of Cricket – interpretations and their applications.
  • Self Assessment.
  • On field movements.
  • Body language & communication skills.
  • Player umpire conflict handling.
  • Match management.
  • Written, Viva and practical examination.
Refresher course
  • Two days twice a year for levels one & two at the beginning and mid season.
  • Once a year for level three & BCCI panel at the beginning of the season.
Educators for each level
  • For Level one, two & three one umpire with good communication skills.
  • Level three - BCCI panel umpire – Present & Retired.
  • Audio visual and print material to be prepared / up dated for each course by the director.

Note : -

The director of the academy will be responsible for preparing the course material.

There will be one coach for each level working under the supervision and guidance of the director.

Proposed centers for coaching: Ahmedabad, Valsad, Surat, Baruch, Anand, Nadiad and North Gujarat.
